Founder's Tips for Post Winter Skin
As the winter season fades away, it often leaves behind a lasting reminder – dry, flakey, tight skin. The harsh weather conditions, combined with indoor heating, can strip away moisture, leaving our skin feeling dehydrated and dull. But fear not! With the right care and attention, you can rejuvenate your skin and restore its natural glow.
Here are five essential tips to implement during and after winter to help defend and repair your skin from post-winter dry-out. Remember, consistency is key, so make these skincare practices a part of your daily ritual for lasting results.
1. MASSAGE YOUR FACE DAILY:
Incorporating daily facial massage into your skincare routine can work wonders for combating dry skin. Massaging your face stimulates blood flow, which helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, promoting a healthy complexion. Additionally, it can help release muscle stiffness and wrinkles, and aid in lymphatic drainage—which will reduce puffiness. Use gentle, upward strokes with your fingertips, or invest in a gua sha tool for added effectiveness!
We recommend using a high quality, organic facial oil to massage your skin. Afterwards, layer your moisturizer on top of the facial oil for the ultimate hydrated and moisturized glow!

2. USE A CLEANSING OIL:
Makeup wipes are a dry skin’s worst nightmare. They are incredibly drying and can strip the skin of its natural oils—resulting in inflammation and irritation. Instead, use a nourishing cleansing oil! They effectively remove dirt, makeup, and impurities from the skin while preserving your natural oils. A good cleansing oil will also help moisturize your skin before you use your regular cleanser (which may be drying or "overprocessing" your skin). And if you have oily skin, it can help reduce excessive sebum production by pre-balancing the surface of the skin. Massage a small amount of cleansing oil onto dry skin, then emulsify with water to lift away impurities. Use a warm washcloth to remove the cleanser to reveal a clean and moisturized complexion.

3. ABSORB YOUR WATER:
Hydration is key to maintaining healthy, glowing skin—inside and out. During the winter months, we often forget to drink an adequate amount of water, leading to dehydration and dry skin. Make a conscious effort to increase your water intake throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated from within. Aim for at least 2-3 liters of water daily, and consider incorporating hydrating agents such as fruits and vegetables, electrolytes, and herbal teas into your diet for an extra boost. You can also add ionic minerals to your water which helps your cells absorb more H2O, they have detoxifying and immune boosting properties as well!
4. EXFOLIATE:
Exfoliation is essential for sloughing away dead skin cells and revealing the fresh, radiant skin underneath. This will also allow for your serums and moisturizers to actually penetrate your skin.
There are two types of exfoliation: chemical and physical. Chemical exfoliation uses acids or enzymes to loosen and dissolve the cells. Physical exfoliation includes products that contain small particles, or any sort of textured surface (like a loofa)—they work by scrubbing away the dead skin and debris.
Incorporate exfoliation into your skincare routine 2-3 times a week to maintain smooth, glowing skin.
Please note, if you are experiencing extreme dryout (like eczema) it's important to choose a gentle exfoliant that won't further irritate your skin.

5. GET A HUMIDIFIER:
Indoor heating systems can significantly reduce the humidity levels in your home, leading to dry, dehydrated skin. If you are still using your heater, invest in a humidifier to add moisture back into the air. Running a humidifier in your bedroom while you sleep can help prevent overnight moisture loss, leaving your skin feeling refreshed and hydrated in the morning. For added skincare benefits, consider using a humidifier with essential oil diffusing capabilities to infuse the air with skin-loving botanicals. You can also keep a hydrating toner handy to instantly boost your skin's water content.
