How I Get My Beauty Sleep As A New Mom
I’ve been on a mission to improve my sleep. As a new mom, it’s been eye-opening to experience how a prolonged sleep debt truly affects the health of the skin and the structure of the face. I started noticing bags under my eyes, a puffier jawline, dehydrated skin, and pillow wrinkles that don’t seem to fade as fast after waking up anymore.
So, I've made some simple yet powerful changes to my bedtime routine and I’ve noticed a big difference in the hydration, texture, and overall appearance of my face because of them. Here’s what I did…
1. I Got Serious About Using Nighttime Actives
Actives are skincare ingredients like glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, etc. Actives promote new cell growth and provide necessary exfoliation and detoxification for the skin. Our skin repairs and regenerates when we sleep, but if you’re not getting adequate sleep then your skin needs extra support to stay smooth, hydrated, and balanced. If you’re already getting adequate sleep, then regularly using actives at night will just improve your skin even more!
My Triple Acid Seaweed Serum is an INCREDIBLE nighttime active and has been saving my skin’s life. This activated gel serum helps to soften skin texture, brighten hyperpigmentation, reduce skin redness, calm hormonal acne, and diminish fine lines and wrinkles. I use it 3 nights a week and layer the Plankton Peptide Cream on top for an extra anti-aging and nourishing boost.

2. I Limit Blue Light Exposure As Much As Possible
Blue light (like fluorescent lights, computers, smartphones, etc.) disrupts melatonin, leading to poor sleep, inflammation, and hormonal imbalances—all of which show up on your skin. I discovered Ra Optic’s blue light blocking glasses and I’m obsessed. I wear them in the evening to allow my body to wind down without any blue light disruption. Since using them, my eyes feel less strained, and I fall asleep faster and deeper.

3. I Started Sleeping With EMF Protection
I recently introduced the Somavedic device to my bedroom, and the results have been unbelievable. My sleep tracker shows double the deep sleep hours, and I wake up with more energy and clearer skin. Plus, its warm glow creates the perfect calming bedtime atmosphere. The energy it emits helps mitigate the effects of EMF, which can cause oxidative stress to your body and skin. This is an investment item, but one I will have and use forever.

4. I Changed My Pillow
Who knew pillow wrinkles could be optional? I swapped out my old pillow for The Omnia pillow by Sleep & Glow and it really makes a world of a difference. This pillow has a unique design that helps you avoid overnight face-smooshing, which can lead to collagen breakdown and permanent lines. It’s a game-changer for side sleepers!

5. I Take Magnesium for Deeper Rest
If you need a little bit of help falling (and staying) asleep, try taking Magnesium. This has been proven to help the nervous system relax before bed, helping you get a more restful night of sleep. Magnesium is also known for helping improve muscle repair and improve digestion. I take mine about an hour before bedtime. The one I like also contains L-theanine for an even calmer evening.

6. I Invested in the Elipsa LED Light Therapy Device
The Elipsa is pure magic in so many ways. I know this device is an investment, but since I started using it my skin and REM sleep has improved dramatically, and my “me” time has become more regular, easier, and enjoyable.
This pro-grade red light device has 800 LED bulbs, and stimulates collagen, circulation, and nitric oxide release—relaxing your body while boosting radiance from within. A true luxury investment that pays dividends every night.
